MEN’S A

Getting near to the end of the season now and Suffolk could not afford to let their guard down. Still with two matches to play their 24 point lead over second place Norfolk would not guarantee an overall win.

Suffolk got off to a good start taking the first three frames. Essex fought back hard and after two sessions, the score was 12:10 to Suffolk. Suffolk managed to maintain the pressure and finally took the match 25:19.

Excellent results from S Lish, P Keeble and G Flatt each winning 4 out of 4.

Norfolk A lost to Herts A so Suffolk's lead is now extended to 34 points. Just 14 points required to guarantee the championship and gain a place in the national finals next March.

MEN’S B

Suffolk and Essex appeared evenly matched during the first two sessions after which the score was level at 11 all. Then disaster struck and Suffolk could only take two of the next 11 frames. They started to fight back in the third session, but to no avail. The match finished with Suffolk losing 25:19.

Best performance from N Twomey winning 3 out of 4.

LADIES

Suffolk Ladies are currently top of the league table and wanted a win against Essex to consolidate their lead. Suffolk started as their meant to go on by taking the first session 7-4. In the second session Suffolk took the same result from the Essex side increasing their lead to 14-8. The third session was hardly a challenge for Suffolk Ladies winning all 11 frames. They continued with this excellent standard of play into the final session and only dropped two frames. Suffolk ended the match with a massive win of 31-13.

Excellent performances saw K.Andrews, J.Skardon, K.O'Brien, C.Seaman and L.Willett each winning four out of four frames. Also a good performance saw T.Acton winning three out of four frames.

JUNIORS

A good spirited performance by a very young and inexperienced Suffolk Youth Team against last years Regional Winners and National Runners Up Essex Youths. Suffolk despite being 7-4 down at the end of the first session dug in and ended the second session only two frames adrift at 12-10 down.

Suffolk kept the fighting spirit going and at the end of the third session Suffolk were only 1 frame behind at 17-16. Two frames in a row saw Suffolk edge into the lead for the first time in the match, but this was short lived as Essex found their form and took the next 8 frames. The match ended with a 25-19 win for Essex.

Special Mention to Paul Singh and Richard Twomey both winning three out of four.

Training sessions are held at Premier Pool Club, Ipswich. New players are welcome. Contact the club for more details.
