SCPA Ladies

Suffolk Ladies who were in-group 1 drew Lancashire, the favourites for the weekend. The match was extremely close all the way through but Suffolk did manage to up the pressure when it mattered and took the last few frames to win their first match 23-21.

Next they were to play Northamptonshire. All Suffolk needed was a win to see them through to the semi finals being played the next day. Suffolk Ladies did win with a more convincing score line of 23-18.

There then had to be a play-off to decide whom out of group 1 would join Suffolk in the semi finals. Lancashire managed to win the play-offs.

In group 2 Kent had done well to win both matches and go strait through to the semi finals, with Somerset winning group 2’s play-offs.

In the semi finals Suffolk drew Somerset and played well to win 23-19. Whilst Kent played Lancashire with Lancashire winning 23-18.

This meant Suffolk were to play Lancashire in the final. Again this was to be a very close game with the score level all the way through. The match went to a draw at 22 all. Both teams were to pick 3 players to play in a play-off to decide the match. Suffolk won the play-offs 2-0 to claim the match and the title of All England Inter County Champions.

Men's Team Reach Semi Finals

Suffolk Men’s ‘A’ were in-group 1 and drew Lancashire for their first match. They played well and won 23-19. Next they were to play Gloucestershire. The Suffolk team were on form and won their second match of the day 23-17. this put Suffolk through to the semi finals which were to be played the following day. Also through to the semi finals from group 2 were Staffordshire and London.

Suffolk had been drawn against London for their semi final match. The Suffolk side fought hard but this was not to be enough and unfortunately lost 12-23.

The final was between London and Staffordshire with Staffordshire winning 23-17.

Suffolk Players Qualify for England

Also many congratulations to both Clare Seaman who plays for the ladies team and Alan Mower who plays for the Men’s A team for getting through England trials. Good luck with all the matches you both play this year.
